Lotus Bazaar (2002 and ongoing)

A market facilitation package that brings context-specific, design-driven services tobear on manifestations of cultural enterprise, most recently at the inception of Sasian(South Asian) Journey program in New Delhi, 2015 and earlier at Sanjha Safar 2007celebrating federalism, at Forum 2004 in Barcelona and at the 2002 Silk Road Festivalin Washington DC. Presenting traditional craft to museum shops and a competitiveglobal market with fair-trade principles, the Lotus Bazaar highlights the versatilecraftsmanship and the pioneering craftcollectives of Asia and is a springboard for direct retail by NGOs, groups and individualproducers to new markets. It simultaneously contextualizes topical issues facingchanging communities through site-specific exhibits; runs Marketing Clinics withdesigners, users, craftspeople and facilitators to analyze and streamline customizedproduction with new design; and creates Theatre of the Arts where artists demonstrateand exchange of skills and knowledge with local talent and a host community of usersculinary and per- forming arts to provide additional context.
